Belcaro is an upscale, fashionable neighborhood in central Denver. The neighborhood gets its name from the mansion of Lawrence C. Phipps, a US Senator who represented Colorado from 1919-1931. Phipps originally called the mansion Belcaro, which is Italian for “dear one”.
Today, the neighborhood consists of elegant, expansive ranch-style houses, tree-lined streets, well-manicured lawns, and a large gated community called the Polo Club. Cherry Creek Shopping Mall and Bonnie Brae are both nearby and feature shopping, restaurants, and bars. North (Italian), True Food (Farm-to-Table), and Bonnie Brae Ice Cream are local favorites.
